Approximately 50 automobiles have been marked with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's town of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Cars, exterior walls and postboxes were defaced, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they stated in a release.
Law enforcement report they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a individual noticed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued fluid.
The substance had been placed in the form of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then found many other smeared automobiles and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under laws banning the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement report early analysis show the substance was likely human blood.
"At present there remains no clue as to its source; investigators are currently not cognizant of any injuries in relation with the incident," they stated.
Municipal representatives said they were working "to solve the case" and have asked to the public for details.
A high-ranking representative commented the attack rendered him speechless and needed to be addressed promptly.
"This event strikes at the core of Hanau and revives the pain of the right-wing attack in 2020," he posted on online, mentioning the murder of nine people by a gunman aiming at people of migrant background in 2020.
