View Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey Trailer the Way It Was Never Intended for Viewing.

Christopher Nolan's mythic action epic, The Odyssey, is a film we've been eagerly awaiting ever since it was revealed. It firmly sits as one of the most awaited films of 2026. In a festive surprise, a preview has now been released, though it's hampered due to the platform's low-quality encodingβ€”maybe illustrating why Nolan initially kept the preview exclusive to cinemas.

The Initial Look of the Stellar Ensemble

The debut footage reveals Matt Damon portraying the king of Ithaca. Audiences are introduced to Tom Holland as Telemachus and Anne Hathaway depicting the loyal wife. During an emotional scene, the character pleads with her husband to vow he will return, only for him to respond by asking what occurs should he fail. Furthermore, the preview provides a quick, obscured look at Polyphemus the Cyclops, whose flock Odysseus and his crew steal during their arduous journey.

Based upon a cornerstone of Western literature, The Odyssey follows the epic journey of the legendary King of Ithaca. Following his victory in the Trojan War, which is depicted in Homer's Iliad, the king faces a long and perilous road home.

Legendary Obstacles and a Star-Studded Lineup

On his travels, Odysseus confronts countless challenges and legendary creatures. This roster features the witch-goddess Circe, known for turning humans into pigs, and the deceptive Sirens. Despite these trials, Odysseus vows to overcome anything to reunite with Penelope and Telemachus on his home island.

This film's ensemble is remarkably star-studded. Alongside the leading trio is Charlize Theron portraying the shrewd goddess, together with Zendaya, Lupita Nyong'o, Robert Pattinson, Elliot Page, and Jon Bernthal.

A Tale of Many Adaptations

The classic poem has inspired many reinterpretations over the years. These range from contemporary versions to a 1999 ballet. It has even been a stage musical adaptation called Epic: The Musical, released in the form of a nine-album collection.

The official trailer has been highly anticipated following the project's reveal and a brief teaser which was initially shown only on the big screen. That teaser later made its way onto the internet shortly thereafter.

To see a clearer version, the preview available via the film's official social channel may provide a better, clearer look.

The Odyssey is scheduled for release on global IMAX screens next summer.
